Ozee Tha Boss Boss, also known as OZEE B Brings life into the 21st century with breathless enthusiasm as well as a good dose of humor. His songs and performances are often diversified in Edo, English and Pidgin English and all his classic sounding tunes are being solely produced by DR RAD and himself.
Amongst other hit tracks are Sika and Omo No Mose which became the solid rock for Ozee B’s rise to fame. He is also hugely popular for his wholesome, fun image and light hearted songs which includes “Mami Water”, “Something About You” and “Love Like Sugar” which attracted legions of fans. Throughout his successful solo career he has overcome intense challenges in the music industry; amongst others is the ability to be unique and still break into the market.
When making music, Ozee B holds some principles in high esteem, one of many which he believes an artist’s fundamental duty is to create work other people can relate to. This principle serve as inspiration to Ozee B while creating his songs because his songs are based on his life, often hilarious but with a deeper meaning which documents the struggle of a young African trying to achieve his dreams.
His music is further influenced by Africa’s cultures and traditions but modernized with R & B highlife fusion, combining the melodies and intricacies of reggae with the drive and power of rock. Ozee B increasing popularity led him to a worthy nomination at AE AWARDS 2012 in the Best Male Artist Category, amongst other worthy recognition he has been honored with in the African Canadian Community.
OZEE-B is an energetic, charismatic and infectious live performer. He is a regular performer at most events in Toronto, Calgary and Montreal. Ozee’s talents are not limited to singing and performing. He is a lyrical genius and has composed a number of songs for both himself and for other artists in and out of the African Canadian community.
Ozee’s distinctive style of music rejects the habitual trite rhythm of African music as he does not believe music should have a fixed idea or particular theme. Hence, he imparts some twist to his sound, instrumentals, vocals, lyrics and more.
Ozee’s energetic style of music is highly influenced by his ability to be imaginative and active. His attraction to more melodic than rhythmic sounds reflects on his music, particularly the ones with soulful life like “Omo No Mose”. His music serves as evidence to all the melodies he has running in his head and his knowledge about classic tunes which he constantly applies to his songs. Ozee B knows it will be a loss of personal integrity to let go of such great ideas and follow a trend.
Ozee B acknowledges he is a fast rising artist and is determined not to let anything change him. He understands the needs for criticism and the significance of a creative person staying true to himself. He constantly explores different musical paths which in the long run has yield more benefits to the public and himself. He is far from being a conservative African Musician.
Ozee B presents himself, both off and on the stage, in an engaging manner. His expressions were either a friendly smile or a more intent look as he paid attention and observed his surroundings. Ozee not only has respect for himself but also has respect for others and on several occasion during the course of an interview, he shied away from ‘naming names’, when it might conceivably reflect adversely upon someone. Ozee remains the same crowd-pleaser he always was, an engaging and captivating presence with a flashing smile, performing energetically to his classic explosive tunes.
Ozee B believes in making an emotional impact with his music to touch the lives of his audience Hence, he utilizes his music to get across good feelings. Many have described his songs as “feel-good” tunes. Regardless of what anyone thinks, he has not strayed from this intention.
